Feral DPS Druid (PVE)
Cat Form melee DPS with strong bleed pressure and high skill expression.
Aldor vs Scryer
When you first reach Shattrath City at level 60 or higher, you are given a choice between two factions: The Aldor and the Scryers. This decision affects which rewards you can purchase, which quest lines you can pursue, and which faction strongholds you can access in Shadowmoon Valley. While it is possible to switch later, it is best to avoid making a haphazard choice. For Feral Druids in PvE, the choice between Aldor and Scryer has almost no impact on long-term DPS performance. Unlike many other specializations, faction rewards do not meaningfully affect Feral damage output beyond a single shoulder enchant.
Before you choose
Here are the only things you need to know before picking a side.
The difference is effectively zero
Simulations show both shoulder enchants perform within ±1 DPS of each other, which is well within margin of error.
Faction gear does not matter
Outside of the shoulder enchant and an early ring, faction rewards do not affect Feral DPS.
Choose what you like
Because the performance difference is negligible, personal preference is a completely valid reason to choose either faction.
Cost can be the tiebreaker
If one faction is significantly cheaper to level on your server, it is often the smarter practical choice.
Aldor vs Scryer
Side-by-side comparison of early highlights, pros, and cons.
Neither choice is permanent, but your early gearing experience can feel very different depending on which faction you choose
- Greater Inscription of Vengeance provides slightly more Attack Power
- Access to Overseer's Signet, a best-in-slot pre-raid ring option
- Clean and simple gearing path early on
- The DPS advantage over Scryer is extremely small
- Reputation materials are often more expensive due to higher demand
- Greater Inscription of the Blade provides Critical Strike Rating instead of Attack Power
- Simulations show identical DPS output compared to the Aldor enchant
- Scryer reputation turn-ins are often cheaper
- Does not offer a comparable pre-raid ring reward
Recommendation for Feral DPS Druid PvE
We recommend choosing Aldor as a Feral DPS Druid in TBC Classic. - Greater Inscription of Vengeance is very slightly stronger than Greater Inscription of the Blade. - Aldor also provides access to Overseer's Signet, a best-in-slot pre-raid ring. That said, the difference is effectively zero, and you should feel completely comfortable choosing either faction based on cost or personal preference.
