Fire Mage (PVE)

Sustained PvE damage spec with strong scaling and ignite-based pressure.

DPSPVE

Gear & Stats

Fire Mage gearing focuses on reaching the Spell Hit cap first, then stacking Spell Damage to scale Fireball and Ignite damage. Unlike Arcane, Fire gains less value from Intellect and relies heavily on raw spell throughput. Mana remains a limiting factor, so proper raid support is critical for sustained performance.

Stat Priority

Fire Mage PvE Stat Priority

Spell Hit (to cap) → Spell Damage → Spell Haste → Spell Crit → Intellect → Stamina → Spirit / MP5

Hit Cap Reference

Fire Mages gain 3% hit from Elemental Precision. Hit cap values: • 165 without buffs • 152 with Inspiring Presence • 127 with Totem of Wrath • 114 with both buffs Spell Hit to cap is the single most important stat until capped.

Stats

Spell Damage

Spell Damage directly increases all Fire spell damage and scales exceptionally well due to Empowered Fireball. This is your primary throughput stat once hit cap is reached.

Spell Haste

Spell Haste increases cast speed and overall DPS but accelerates mana consumption. It becomes more valuable in later phases and with strong mana support such as Shadow Priests or Innervates. 15.77 Spell Haste Rating grants 1% cast speed.

Spell Critical Strike

Fire critical strikes deal increased damage through Ignite and benefit strongly from Chaotic Skyfire Diamond. However, crit is expensive in item budget terms and should only be taken when better stats are unavailable.

Intellect, Stamina, and Regeneration

Intellect increases mana pool and provides minor crit scaling, but should never be actively geared for as Fire. Stamina improves survivability and is useful in specific encounters but not a DPS stat. Spirit and MP5 provide mana regeneration but are generally inefficient at solving Fire Mage mana issues compared to raid support.
