Elemental Shaman (PVE)
Ranged caster DPS with strong burst and raid utility.
Gear & Stats
Elemental gearing is all about reaching your practical hit needs early (thanks to talents + Totem of Wrath), then stacking Spell Haste and Spell Damage to convert that consistency into real throughput. Crit remains valuable because it fuels Elemental Focus mana returns, but haste + spellpower are usually your biggest DPS movers once hit is handled.

Stat Priority
Spell Hit (to practical cap) → Spell Haste → Spell Damage → Spell Crit → Intellect → MP5 Elemental is uniquely comfortable on Hit because talents + Totem of Wrath cover most of your cap. Once you’re at your practical requirement, Haste and Spell Damage take over as the most consistent throughput gains. Crit is still strong due to Elemental Fury + Elemental Focus, and Intellect/MP5 scale with fight length and how aggressively you weave Chain Lightning.
Stat Breakdown
Spell Hit — Practical Cap First
You still want your key spells landing reliably, but Elemental rarely needs heavy hit stacking because talents and Totem of Wrath cover most of the requirement. Get to your practical cap, then stop overvaluing Hit pieces that sacrifice better stats.
Spell Haste — Best Scaling Stat Early
Haste increases how many meaningful casts you fit into a fight and smooths your rotation under Bloodlust/Heroism. As long as your mana can support the pace, haste is one of the cleanest DPS increases available in Phase 1.
Spell Damage — Always Valuable
Spell Damage boosts every Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning. It’s your most straightforward throughput stat and remains excellent even when you’re already hit-stable.
Spell Crit — Damage + Mana Engine
Crit hits harder due to Elemental Fury and also fuels mana efficiency through Elemental Focus procs. It’s a strong stat, just usually slightly behind haste/spellpower for consistent gains once hit is solved.
Intellect & MP5 — Fight Length Dependent
Longer fights raise the value of sustain stats. Intellect increases your mana pool (and contributes indirectly via Unrelenting Storm), while MP5 is consistent regen during continuous casting. If you’re going OOM, these climb in value fast.
Spirit — Lowest Value
Elemental does not leverage Spirit well in combat because it requires the 5-second rule to matter. In practice, Spirit is the stat you care about least for PvE DPS.
Hit Notes
Elemental’s hit needs are lower than most casters because you stack multiple hit sources through talents and Totem of Wrath. In most raid situations, you only need a small amount of hit from gear to feel consistent — prioritize overall item quality once you’re there.
