Fury Warrior (PVE)
PvE damage spec with strong scaling and uptime.
Overview
Fury Warriors remain the primary PvE damage specialization for Warriors in The Burning Crusade, focusing on dual-wielding one-handed weapons and delivering powerful sustained damage. While Warrior DPS no longer dominates raids as it did in Classic, a well-geared Fury Warrior in the right group composition remains highly competitive, excelling in cleave scenarios and large AoE encounters. Unlike Arms, Fury brings no unique raid buffs or debuffs—its value is measured purely by damage output. This makes Fury more sensitive to gear quality and encounter design, especially early in progression where melee-unfriendly mechanics can limit uptime. As gear improves and group support increases, Fury scales extremely well and can become a strong contributor to raid DPS. Most raids will prioritize bringing a single Arms Warrior for the powerful [Blood Frenzy] debuff, but Fury Warriors still offer a distinct playstyle focused on aggressive dual-wield combat and high-pressure damage. While the era of Fury’s unquestioned dominance is over, the spec remains a potent DPS option when played and supported correctly.
Strengths
Exceptional Cleave & AoE Damage
Fury Warriors shine in multi-target fights. Abilities like [Whirlwind], [Cleave], and [Sweeping Strikes] allow huge damage on 2–4 targets, making Fury one of the strongest cleave DPS specs in TBC.
Outstanding Gear Scaling
Warriors scale extremely well with gear because Rage generation improves as your stats and weapons improve. As the expansion progresses, Fury becomes dramatically stronger and can reach highly competitive DPS.
No Mana Constraints
Fury Warriors aren’t limited by mana or energy. As long as you have uptime on targets, you can keep generating Rage and maintain consistent damage output.
Raid Utility Through Shouts & Sunder
[Battle Shout], [Commanding Shout], and [Sunder Armor] are valuable buffs and debuffs you bring to every group. Typically you’ll run [Battle Shout] for damage, swapping to [Commanding Shout] when extra health is needed for survival.
Weaknesses
Extremely Gear Dependent
Fury Warriors rely heavily on strong weapons and secondary stats to perform well. Early in the expansion, limited access to key items—especially contested trinkets—can significantly delay a Warrior’s power spike compared to other DPS classes.
Weak Early Progression
Before acquiring sufficient gear, Fury Warriors can struggle to compete on damage. Unlike some classes that perform well with minimal gear, Fury’s effectiveness scales slowly at first and improves dramatically later on.
Limited Raid Utility
Fury provides no unique raid buffs or debuffs. Outside of maintaining shouts and contributing [Sunder Armor], the spec’s value is tied entirely to damage output, making it more difficult to justify multiple Fury slots.
Melee-Unfriendly Encounters
Many early raid encounters feature mechanics that punish melee uptime. Movement, cleaves, and positional requirements can disproportionately impact Fury Warriors and reduce their effectiveness.
Races

Alliance
Human
BiSSword and Mace expertise provides a strong DPS boost, especially with many top-end Fury weapons falling into these categories.

Horde
Orc
Axe expertise combined with the powerful Blood Fury cooldown makes Orc the strongest overall DPS race for Fury Warriors.

Human — BiS Alliance
Humans are the best Alliance choice for Fury Warriors due to their Sword and Mace Specialization, granting 5 expertise when using these weapons. Since many top-tier Fury weapons are swords or maces, this racial is active frequently and provides a meaningful DPS increase. Diplomacy greatly accelerates early reputation farming, which is valuable during initial gearing. Perception also offers strong PvP utility against stealth-based compositions.

Draenei
Draenei are a close second-best option for PvE due to Heroic Presence, which grants 1% melee hit to the entire party. While weaker on an individual level than Human, this racial can be extremely valuable in optimized melee groups by reducing hit requirements across the party.

Gnome
Gnomes are arguably the strongest PvP race for Warriors. Escape Artist is instant-cast in TBC, allowing quick removal of roots and snares. PvE value is minimal, but the PvP utility is excellent.

Dwarf
Stoneform provides situational value by removing poisons, bleeds, and diseases. While niche in PvE, it is very strong in PvP matchups against Rogues and certain Warlock effects.

Night Elf
Night Elf offers increased dodge chance through Quickness, but provides no meaningful DPS or raid utility. Generally considered the weakest PvE option for Fury Warriors.
Orc — Overall BiS
Orcs are the strongest Horde race for Fury Warriors. Axe Specialization grants 5 expertise when using axes, which is especially valuable early when expertise is scarce. Blood Fury provides a massive attack power boost on a short cooldown, effectively acting as a free damage trinket. Hardiness also gives a 15% stun resistance, offering additional PvP value.

Troll
Trolls are a solid DPS option thanks to Berserking, which increases attack speed based on missing health. While Haste is very strong for Fury, the conditional nature of Berserking makes it less reliable than Orc racials. Beast Slaying is powerful but situational in TBC.

Tauren
Tauren offer strong PvP and hybrid value through Endurance and War Stomp. Their larger hitbox can occasionally help with melee range. While excellent for tanking and PvP, Tauren provide less direct DPS benefit for Fury than Orc.

Undead
Will of the Forsaken is a powerful PvP racial that removes fear, charm, and sleep effects. While Warriors already have fear breaks, this can still be valuable in specific matchups. PvE value is minimal.
