Frost provides unmatched crowd control through roots, slows, and Polymorph chains, while still offering lethal burst potential through Shatter combos and Ice Lance. This build is flexible and can be adjusted slightly depending on matchup or team composition.

This Deep Frost build focuses on maximizing control and survivability while maintaining strong burst damage. Talents such as Improved Frost Nova, Permafrost, and Improved Blizzard heavily punish melee opponents, while Improved Counterspell allows you to shut down casters and healers at key moments.
Standard Frost PvP Build
This Deep Frost build picks up both Summon Water Elemental and Improved Counterspell. It offers the strongest mix of control, burst damage, and survivability available to Frost Mages in PvP, making it the default choice for Arena and Battleground play.
Playstyle Notes
Frost Mages excel at controlling the pace of a match. Proper use of rank 1 Frostbolt, Water Elemental freezes, and Polymorph chains allows you to dictate enemy movement and create burst windows. Cooldown management is critical, as Ice Barrier, Ice Block, Blink, and Cold Snap are your primary defensive tools.
Talent Flexibility
This build is highly adjustable. If you are playing without a healer, consider taking Magic Attunement at the cost of points in Magic Absorption. Dampen Magic provides a significant survivability increase in caster-heavy matchups.
