Holy Paladin (PVE)
An elite single-target healer that keeps tanks alive through efficient, high-throughput healing and invaluable raid blessings.
Aldor vs Scryer
When you first reach Shattrath City at level 60 or higher, you are given a choice between two factions: The Aldor and the Scryers. This decision affects which rewards you can purchase, which quest lines you can pursue, and which faction strongholds you can access in Shadowmoon Valley. While it is possible to switch later, it is best to avoid making a haphazard choice. For Holy Paladins, this choice is largely preference-based. The difference between Aldor and Scryer is small and will not make or break your ability to heal end-game content.
Before you choose
Here are the only things you need to know before picking a side.
The difference is small
Both factions are fully viable for Holy Paladins. The power gap is small enough that it will not affect your ability to heal any content.
Healing versus efficiency
Aldor leans toward higher raw healing, while Scryer offers slightly better mana efficiency or crit-based options.
Phase 5 rewards are a minor factor
The Shattered Sun Pendant of Restoration becomes available very late and should not heavily influence your early decision.
Switching is not required
If you already chose a faction, there is no compelling reason to switch. Holy Paladins perform well regardless.
Aldor vs Scryer
Side-by-side comparison of early highlights, pros, and cons.
Neither choice is permanent, but your early gearing experience can feel very different depending on which faction you choose
- Greater Inscription of Faith provides more raw healing power than the Scryer alternative
- Offers the stronger healing-focused proc on the Phase 5 Shattered Sun Pendant of Restoration
- Aligns well with sustained healing-focused playstyles
- Loses a small amount of mana regeneration compared to the Scryer enchant
- Provides no significant non-enchant gearing advantages
- Greater Inscription of the Oracle provides additional mana per 5, improving efficiency
- Offers a crit-oriented alternative through Greater Inscription of the Orb
- A completely viable option if you already chose Scryer
- Provides slightly less raw healing throughput than Aldor
- Offers no long-term advantage in later phases
Recommendation for Holy Paladin PvE
We recommend choosing Aldor as a Holy Paladin in TBC Classic. - Greater Inscription of Faith provides more raw healing power than Greater Inscription of the Oracle. - Aldor also offers the stronger healing-focused necklace proc in Phase 5. That said, the difference is small, and Holy Paladins will perform extremely well regardless of which faction they choose.
