Holy Paladin (PVP)
An elite single-target healer that keeps tanks alive through efficient, high-throughput healing and invaluable raid blessings.
Aldor vs Scryer
When you first reach Shattrath City at level 60 or higher, you are given a choice between two factions: The Aldor and the Scryers. This decision affects which rewards you can purchase, which quest lines you can pursue, and which faction strongholds you can access in Shadowmoon Valley. While it is possible to switch later, it is best to avoid making a haphazard choice. For Holy Paladins in PvP, the difference between Aldor and Scryer is small. However, one option offers a slightly more reliable and consistent benefit for competitive PvP environments.
Before you choose
Here are the only things you need to know before picking a side.
Consistency matters in PvP
PvP healing favors reliable output over random crits. Consistent healing helps stabilize teammates under pressure.
Crit is volatile
While crit can occasionally save a target, it is unreliable compared to guaranteed healing power in repeated engagements.
Faction impact is small
Outside of shoulder enchants, Aldor and Scryer rewards do not meaningfully affect Holy Paladin PvP performance.
Switching is optional
If you already chose a faction, there is no urgent reason to change. Holy Paladins perform well regardless.
Aldor vs Scryer
Side-by-side comparison of early highlights, pros, and cons.
Neither choice is permanent, but your early gearing experience can feel very different depending on which faction you choose
- Greater Inscription of Faith provides more raw healing power than the Scryer alternative
- Higher healing throughput is more reliable in PvP than crit-based gains
- Fits well with resilience-focused PvP gearing
- Offers slightly less mana efficiency compared to the Scryer enchant
- Provides no unique PvP rewards beyond the shoulder enchant
- Greater Inscription of the Oracle provides additional mana per 5
- Crit-oriented options can occasionally improve burst healing
- Critical Strike is less reliable than raw healing power in PvP
- Provides slightly lower overall healing throughput
Recommendation for Holy Paladin PvP
We recommend choosing Aldor as a Holy Paladin for PvP in TBC Classic. - Greater Inscription of Faith provides more raw healing power than Greater Inscription of the Oracle. - Consistent healing output is more valuable than Critical Strike in PvP environments. That said, the difference is small, and Holy Paladins will perform well in PvP regardless of faction choice.
