Subtlety Rogue (PVP)
PvP control spec with strong openers and matchup tools.
Aldor vs Scryer
When you first reach Shattrath City at level 60 or higher, you are given a choice between two factions: The Aldor and the Scryers. This decision affects which rewards you can purchase, which quest lines you can pursue, and which faction strongholds you can access in Shadowmoon Valley. While it is possible to switch later, it is best to avoid making a haphazard choice. For Subtlety Rogues in PvP, early weapon access and burst potential matter far more than small stat differences, making one faction clearly more attractive early on.
Before you choose
Here are the only things you need to know before picking a side.
Weapon damage matters most
Subtlety PvP revolves around controlled burst during short windows. Weapon quality has a larger impact than minor stat differences.
Early burst wins games
Having a strong weapon early dramatically improves opener damage and kill potential in battlegrounds and arenas.
Enchant differences are minor
The shoulder enchants from both factions are close in value. They should not outweigh weapon considerations for Subtlety PvP.
Switching is possible
You can change factions later, but doing so costs time and gold. Subtlety Rogues benefit most from making the right early choice.
Aldor vs Scryer
Side-by-side comparison of early highlights, pros, and cons.
Neither choice is permanent, but your early gearing experience can feel very different depending on which faction you choose
- Access to Vindicator's Brand at Exalted, one of the strongest weapons available before Tier 4, even for PvP
- Greater Inscription of Vengeance provides solid Attack Power and Critical Strike
- Early weapon power significantly improves Subtlety burst windows
- Often more expensive to rush reputation due to higher demand for Aldor turn-in items
- Greater Inscription of the Blade leans slightly more toward Critical Strike
- Cheaper reputation turn-ins can save some gold early
- Provides no weapon comparable to Vindicator's Brand for Subtlety PvP
- Offers less immediate burst power during early PvP progression
Recommendation for Subtlety Rogue PvP
We recommend choosing Aldor as a Subtlety Rogue for PvP in TBC Classic. Access to Vindicator's Brand at Exalted provides one of the strongest pre-T4 weapons available, making it an excellent choice even in PvP scenarios. While Scryer remains playable, it lacks a comparable early weapon option. For Subtlety PvP, Aldor offers a clear advantage through early burst power and weapon quality.
