Subtlety Rogue (PVP)
PvP control spec with strong openers and matchup tools.
Gear & Stats
Subtlety Rogues in PvP use a hybrid gearing approach that blends PvP items for stamina, resilience, and set bonuses with select PvE pieces for increased damage. Thanks to strong defensive cooldowns and control, Rogues can safely prioritize offensive stats without becoming overly fragile.

Stat Priority
Rogues do NOT scale meaningfully with Resilience beyond a baseline survivability threshold. Instead, they scale extremely well with raw offensive stats. Recommended PvP stat priority: • Agility / Attack Power • Critical Strike Rating • Hit Rating (moderate) • Stamina (from PvP gear) Heavy Resilience gemming is inefficient for Rogue damage profiles, especially for aggressive Arena playstyles.
Resilience Guidelines
A Resilience range of roughly 225–300 is recommended. • 2v2 / 3v3 Arenas: Lean toward the lower end for more kill pressure • 5v5 Arenas & Battlegrounds: Lean toward the higher end for survivability Team composition matters: Double DPS teams favor offense, while Rogue + Healer setups benefit more from additional resilience.
Using PvE Gear in PvP
Rogues can safely incorporate PvE items due to their strong defensive toolkit. Offensive PvE pieces can significantly increase pressure and kill potential without compromising survivability. Strong Phase 1 PvE options include: • Skulker's Greaves • Figurine – Nightseye Panther • Drape of the Dark Reavers Using one to three PvE items without Resilience is completely viable and often optimal.
Engineering & Goggles
Hyper-Vision Goggles are effectively mandatory for double DPS Arena teams (Rogue/Mage, Rogue/Warlock). The stealth detection bonus alone can decide games before combat even begins. If you are NOT playing double DPS: • Engineering is optional • Goggles are not mandatory If you skip Engineering, Mask of the Deceiver is a strong alternative with a solid stat budget, a meta socket, and flexible gemming.
Weapon Choices & Arena Progression
With increased Arena point income, Gladiator weapons are now obtainable much faster. A strong player pushing ~2100–2150 rating can realistically acquire a Gladiator main-hand weapon within roughly two weeks. Because of this accelerated timeline, long-term alternatives like Dragonmaw are less attractive. Recommended approach: • Use the Aldor sword as a temporary main-hand • Aldor exalted is required anyway for shoulder enchants • Transition into Arena weapons as soon as possible
Example Phase 1 PvP Setup
A typical Phase 1 PvP setup maintains the 4-piece Arena set bonus for +10 maximum Energy while mixing in high-impact PvE items for damage. Depending on team composition, belt, boots, or bracers can be swapped between PvP and PvE options to fine-tune survivability versus pressure.
