Gear & Stats

Enhancement gearing is about empowering your melee group while scaling your own damage through weapons and physical stats. You are extremely weapon-dependent and gain massive value from Strength, Expertise, and Hit while maintaining enough Mana to sustain totem twisting and Stormstrike rotations.

Stat Priority

Expertise → Strength → Hit (to 9%) → Haste → Critical Strike → Agility → Hit (past 9%) → Armor Penetration → Intellect → Stamina Do not downgrade overall gear quality to force caps. Weapon quality and total stat budget matter more than perfect stat distribution.

Stat Breakdown

Expertise — Highest Value

Expertise reduces the chance your attacks are dodged. Because bosses cannot parry attacks from behind, eliminating dodge chance is extremely valuable. The hard cap is 26 Expertise (6.5%), after which Expertise loses all value.

Strength — Primary Scaling Stat

Strength is your main source of Attack Power. One Strength grants 2 Attack Power, and it scales extremely well with Blessing of Kings and Unleashed Rage.

Hit Rating — Soft Cap First

Enhancement needs 9% Hit to cap special attacks like Stormstrike. Dual Wield Specialization and Nature’s Guidance provide most of this from talents, making the soft cap easy to reach. Hit beyond 9% still has value for white attacks but at a reduced rate.

Haste — White Damage & Flurry Value

Haste increases white attack frequency, which directly improves Windfury procs and Flurry uptime. It scales better as gear improves and is especially strong once Hit and Expertise are secured.

Critical Strike — Flurry Engine

Crit fuels Flurry uptime and improves burst damage. While not as strong as Strength or Expertise, it remains a valuable secondary stat throughout all phases.

Agility — Supplemental Crit

Agility provides Crit, Dodge, and Armor. While weaker than Strength point-for-point, it remains a solid stat when bundled with other physical stats.

Weapon Speed — Non-Negotiable

Slow weapons are mandatory. Slower weapon speeds maximize Stormstrike damage and Windfury Weapon procs while respecting Windfury’s internal cooldown. Weapon upgrades are your single largest DPS increases.

Mana Stats — Sustaining Totem Twisting

Intellect and MP5 help sustain Mana during long fights, especially when totem twisting. These stats are supportive rather than primary and should never be chased at the cost of physical damage stats.

Weapon Guidelines

Always dual-wield slow weapons whenever possible. • Main-hand and off-hand speed should be as slow as possible • Weapon DPS and speed matter more than secondary stats • Upgrading weapons is a larger DPS gain than almost any armor upgrade Avoid fast weapons even if their raw DPS appears higher.

Gearing Philosophy

Enhancement does not chase caps blindly. Your goal is to maximize total stat value while staying within reasonable Hit and Expertise thresholds. If an item has more Strength, better weapon stats, or higher overall budget, it is often an upgrade even if it slightly overshoots Hit or Expertise.
