Fury Warrior (PVE)
PvE damage spec with strong scaling and uptime.
Aldor vs Scryer
When you first reach Shattrath City at level 60 or higher, you are given a choice between two factions: The Aldor and the Scryers. This decision affects which rewards you can purchase, which quest lines you can pursue, and which faction strongholds you can access in Shadowmoon Valley. While it is possible to switch later, it is best to avoid making a haphazard choice. One of the most common questions in The Burning Crusade is which Shattrath reputation you should pick. The answer depends heavily on your class and specialization, especially during the early phases of the expansion.
Before you choose
Here are the only things you need to know before picking a side.
What your choice affects
Your choice changes which reputation rewards you can buy, which quest lines you follow, and which faction areas you can access in Shadowmoon Valley.
You cannot pick both
Declaring for one faction makes you Unfriendly with the other, and raising one reputation will generally lower the other.
Switching is possible
You can swap later, but it is time-consuming and usually costs gold. It is best to choose intentionally early.
How to decide
For most players, the best decision is based on early Phase 1 value and cost. The difference shrinks later, so you are rarely “ruined” by either choice.
Aldor vs Scryer
Side-by-side comparison of early highlights, pros, and cons.
Neither choice is permanent, but your early gearing experience can feel very different depending on which faction you choose
- Greater Inscription of Vengeance is a strong shoulder enchant option for Fury PvE
- Access to Vindicator's Brand if you push Exalted early, a powerful pre-raid off-hand
- Quest reward Overseer's Signet is tied as a best-in-slot pre-raid ring option
- Often more expensive to rush because Mark of Sargeras and Fel Armament commonly cost more due to higher demand
- Immediate power can come at a higher gold cost if you try to boost reputation early
- Slightly better shoulder enchant profile if you only compare crit versus attack power (difference is minor overall)
- Unique Blacksmithing plans can lower the cost of leveling Blacksmithing to 375 and reduce early crafting expenses
- Sunfury Signet and Arcane Tome are often cheaper turn-ins than the Aldor equivalents, saving gold early
- Less immediate early PvE payoff for Fury compared to Aldor's early item access
- If you are aiming for fast pre-raid power spikes, Scryer typically feels less impactful
What matters for Fury Warrior
Shoulder enchants
Both Shattrath factions offer similar shoulder enchants for Fury Warriors. The difference is small enough that it should not be your only deciding factor. If you look strictly at the stat breakdown, the Scryer option tends to lean slightly more toward Critical Strike rating, which is generally more valuable than a small amount of Attack Power. In practice, the gap is minor and your early item access and costs matter more.
Early power versus gold efficiency
The real decision usually comes down to early power versus cost. Aldor can provide an immediate early gearing spike through reputation and quest rewards, but it can be more expensive to rush. Scryer is often more gold efficient early on due to cheaper turn-ins and strong Blacksmithing-related benefits, especially if you are leveling the profession quickly.
Recommendation for Fury Warrior PvE
We recommend choosing Aldor as a Fury Warrior in TBC Classic. Greater Inscription of Vengeance is slightly stronger overall than Greater Inscription of the Blade for typical Fury PvE gearing. Aldor also provides excellent early phase value through Vindicator's Brand and Overseer's Signet, both of which are strong pre-raid items. In the long run, neither faction provides a significant advantage beyond the early portion of Phase 1. The choice largely comes down to whether you prefer an early power spike at a higher cost or saving gold and benefiting from Scryer-related profession advantages.
