Gear & Stats

Restoration Druid PvP gearing in TBC revolves around survivability, control reliability, and sustained healing throughput. Unlike PvE, where raw output can dominate, PvP rewards a balanced stat profile that lets you survive burst windows, reliably land crowd control, and keep heal-over-time effects rolling under pressure. Your primary goals are reaching the PvP spell hit cap for Cyclone consistency, stacking enough Resilience to avoid being deleted in stuns, and then layering Healing Power and mana sustain to outlast opponents. Restoration Druids scale extremely well with proper PvP itemization and become harder to kill as gear improves across seasons.

Stat Priority

Spell Hit (to 3%) → Resilience → Healing Power → Spirit / MP5 → Intellect → Stamina Spell Hit is mandatory in PvP because missing Cyclone or Entangling Roots can immediately lose games. After hit is solved, Resilience is your most important defensive stat, reducing incoming burst and crit pressure. Healing Power drives throughput on all HoTs, while Spirit and MP5 determine how long you can maintain pressure in extended matches.

Spell Hit (PvP Cap)

You need 3% Spell Hit in PvP to reliably land Cyclone and Entangling Roots. Missing critical crowd control is far more punishing than losing a small amount of healing throughput. Never sacrifice hit once you are below cap.

Resilience

Resilience reduces critical strike chance and damage taken, directly countering burst-heavy comps. Restoration Druids rely on surviving long enough for HoTs to take effect, making Resilience one of the most important stats in Arena.

Healing Power

Healing Power increases the strength of Rejuvenation, Lifebloom, Regrowth, and Swiftmend. Since most of your healing is instant or HoT-based, Healing Power scales extremely well and remains your main throughput stat.

Stats Explained

Restoration Druids thrive on stat balance rather than extreme stacking. Your best stats either help you land control, survive burst windows, or sustain healing while under pressure.

Spirit & MP5

Spirit and MP5 are both valuable for mana regeneration. Spirit is generally preferred because it scales with talents and improves Tree of Life benefits, while MP5 provides consistent regeneration even while casting.

Intellect

Intellect increases your mana pool and spell crit. While not a top priority, it contributes to longevity and indirectly supports healing consistency during longer matches.

Stamina

Stamina increases your health pool and helps prevent deaths during stun or silence chains. You naturally acquire Stamina from PvP gear, but it should never be ignored entirely.

PvP Gearing Notes

PvP gear is generally superior to PvE gear for Restoration Druids due to Resilience and defensive stat distribution. However, select PvE pieces can be used when they provide exceptional Healing Power or mana sustain without sacrificing survivability.

PvP Sets and Resilience

Using PvP sets is strongly recommended because Resilience dramatically increases your effective survivability. Restoration Druids become significantly harder to kill as Resilience increases, especially in later seasons.

Mixing PvE Pieces

PvE items can be situationally useful if you lack Gladiator gear for a slot or need additional Healing Power. These should be used carefully, as sacrificing too much Resilience can make you vulnerable to coordinated burst.

Spell Penetration

Spell Penetration helps Cyclone and Roots land against targets with resistances. While not mandatory, small amounts from cloak enchants or gear can improve consistency against certain comps.
