Retribution Paladin (PVP)
A two-handed melee DPS that uses seal twisting and powerful buffs to deliver competitive damage when supported by the right group composition.
Gear & Stats
Retribution Paladins in PvP are front-liners who win games by surviving long enough to force cooldowns, land crowd control, and line up burst windows. Because Paladins lack true gap-closers and are frequently the focus target, gearing leans heavily into defensive stats early — especially Resilience and Stamina — while still maintaining enough Strength to keep your kill pressure threatening.

Stat Priority
Resilience > Stamina > Strength > Attack Power > Crit / Agility
Stats Explained
Resilience
Your most important PvP stat early on. Resilience reduces damage taken from all sources and makes you far harder to burst down while you’re being trained.
Strength
Your primary damage stat. With Divine Strength, each point of Strength provides a large Attack Power gain, keeping your burst threatening even in defensive gear.
Stamina
Increases your health pool and directly improves your ability to live through swaps and stuns — crucial for a melee with limited mobility.
Attack Power
Flat damage scaling for your autos and abilities. You’ll naturally get plenty of this through Strength and PvP pieces.
Crit / Agility
Minor but still useful damage stats. Crit is generally more valuable than Agility, and higher crit helps maintain Vengeance uptime more reliably.
Gearing Notes
In almost all PvP situations, you want to prioritize full PvP gear for survivability. • Aim for the “Scaled” Paladin PvP set pieces (not the “Plate” variants). • Avoid the “Lamellar” variants — they do not align with how Retribution scales damage. • Scaled pieces provide the Intellect you want for utility/off-healing while still supporting your physical damage profile. Your damage is already strong baseline — the gear’s job is to keep you alive long enough to use it.
