Elemental Shaman (PVP)
Ranged caster DPS with strong burst and raid utility.
Aldor vs Scryer
When you first reach Shattrath City at level 60 or higher, you are given a choice between two factions: The Aldor and the Scryers. This decision affects which rewards you can purchase, which quest lines you can pursue, and which faction strongholds you can access in Shadowmoon Valley. While it is possible to switch later, it is best to avoid making a haphazard choice. For Elemental Shamans in PvP, the difference between Aldor and Scryer is extremely small. Nearly all faction gear rewards are PvE-oriented and do not meaningfully affect PvP performance, leaving shoulder enchants as the only real consideration.
Before you choose
Here are the only things you need to know before picking a side.
PvE faction gear does not matter
Weapons, trinkets, and rings from Aldor or Scryer are designed for PvE and have little impact in PvP.
Enchant difference is tiny
The difference between Aldor and Scryer shoulder enchants is very small and will not decide PvP outcomes.
Spell Power over crit
Elemental PvP favors consistent Spell Power rather than volatile Critical Strike.
Cost can be the tiebreaker
Because the power difference is minimal, choosing the cheaper reputation path is often the most practical decision.
Aldor vs Scryer
Side-by-side comparison of early highlights, pros, and cons.
Neither choice is permanent, but your early gearing experience can feel very different depending on which faction you choose
- Greater Inscription of Discipline provides a small Spell Power advantage over the Scryer enchant
- Spell Power offers more consistent damage and pressure in PvP than crit-based gains
- Works well for all Elemental PvP playstyles
- The advantage over Scryer is extremely small and difficult to notice in practice
- Provides no additional PvP-specific rewards beyond the enchant
- Greater Inscription of the Orb is very close in value to the Aldor enchant
- Scryer reputation is often cheaper to level due to lower faction popularity
- Provides slightly less overall value for PvP compared to Aldor
- PvE-oriented Scryer items do not meaningfully impact PvP performance
Recommendation for Elemental Shaman PvP
We recommend choosing Aldor as an Elemental Shaman for PvP in TBC Classic. - Greater Inscription of Discipline is very slightly stronger than Greater Inscription of the Orb. - Spell Power provides more consistent value than Critical Strike in PvP. The difference is extremely small, and Elemental Shamans will perform well in PvP regardless of faction choice.
