Elemental Shaman (PVP)
Ranged caster DPS with strong burst and raid utility.
Overview
Elemental Shamans are one of the most aggressive caster specializations in The Burning Crusade PvP. They bring unmatched offensive utility through Purge, Earth Shock interrupts, Grounding Totem, and Bloodlust, allowing them to create overwhelming pressure during short kill windows. While the introduction of Resilience reduced the crit-based one-shot potential seen in Classic, Elemental still possesses some of the highest burst damage in the game when allowed to cast freely. The specialization remains fragile and heavily reliant on positioning, control tools, and team support to succeed.
Strengths
Unmatched Offensive Utility
Purge, Earth Shock interrupts, Grounding Totem, Frost Shock slows, and Earthbind Totem give Elemental Shamans constant tools to disrupt enemy healers and casters while creating kill opportunities.
Bloodlust / Heroism Pressure
Bloodlust can be used in Arenas and Battlegrounds, enabling devastating burst windows where Elemental Mastery plus Chain Lightning can instantly swing fights.
Explosive Burst Potential
Elemental Mastery, Lightning Overload, Elemental Fury, and instant shocks allow for lethal damage spikes when enemies are caught without interrupts or line-of-sight.
Excellent Large-Scale PvP
Elemental thrives in Battlegrounds and 5v5 Arenas where multiple threats reduce enemy focus, allowing more freedom to cast and apply pressure.
Weaknesses
Cast-Time Reliant Damage
Outside of shocks and Nature’s Swiftness, nearly all Elemental damage requires hard casts, making the spec extremely vulnerable to interrupts, pushback, and line-of-sight.
Low Survivability
Elemental Shamans lack true defensive cooldowns and are often the primary kill target in Arenas. Survival depends heavily on teammates and positioning.
Mana Dependency
Elemental has poor Mana sustain in prolonged fights and lacks recovery tools like Evocation or Life Tap. Once Mana is gone, effectiveness drops sharply.
Races

Alliance

Only ChoiceInspiring Presence grants 1% spell hit to your party, while Gift of the Naaru provides a free heal on the Holy school, useful when interrupted.

The only Alliance Shaman race. Inspiring Presence adds spell hit to your party, while Gift of the Naaru provides a free heal on a separate school. Best for: Alliance PvP utility
Orc — Best PvP Choice
Hardiness can completely swing Arena matches by resisting key stuns. Blood Fury provides strong burst at the cost of reduced healing received. Best for: Arena survivability and kill setups

Tauren
War Stomp can enable uninterrupted Chain Lightning or emergency healing, while Endurance increases maximum health. Best for: Control and consistency

Troll
Berserking provides strong haste scaling and offensive pressure, but lacks defensive value compared to Orc. Best for: Aggressive playstyles
