Enhancement Shaman (PVE)
Melee DPS with Windfury synergy and burst-heavy gameplay.
Aldor vs Scryer
When you first reach Shattrath City at level 60 or higher, you are given a choice between two factions: The Aldor and the Scryers. This decision affects which rewards you can purchase, which quest lines you can pursue, and which faction strongholds you can access in Shadowmoon Valley. While it is possible to switch later, it is best to avoid making a haphazard choice. For Enhancement Shamans, the Aldor versus Scryer decision is not particularly impactful. Both factions are viable, and the overall performance difference is small.
Before you choose
Here are the only things you need to know before picking a side.
The difference is very small
Enhancement Shamans perform extremely well regardless of faction choice. The difference comes down to minor optimization.
Shoulder enchants matter most
Outside of shoulder enchants, faction rewards have little long-term impact on Enhancement performance.
Early gearing advantages
Aldor provides a strong pre-raid ring, while Scryer offers a usable early leg option.
Cost can be the tiebreaker
Because the power difference is minimal, choosing the cheaper reputation path is often a smart and practical decision.
Aldor vs Scryer
Side-by-side comparison of early highlights, pros, and cons.
Neither choice is permanent, but your early gearing experience can feel very different depending on which faction you choose
- Greater Inscription of Vengeance is very slightly stronger than the Scryer alternative for Enhancement DPS
- Provides access to Overseer's Signet, a best-in-slot pre-raid ring
- Offers the cleanest overall min-max path during Phase 1
- Aldor reputation materials are often more expensive due to higher demand
- The advantage over Scryer is very small
- Provides Retainer's Leggings, a decent pre-raid leg option
- Scryer reputation turn-ins are often cheaper due to lower faction popularity
- Greater Inscription of the Blade is very slightly weaker than the Aldor enchant
- Lacks an equivalent pre-raid ring reward to Overseer's Signet
Recommendation for Enhancement Shaman PvE
We recommend choosing Aldor as an Enhancement Shaman in TBC Classic. - Greater Inscription of Vengeance is very slightly stronger than Greater Inscription of the Blade. - Aldor provides access to Overseer's Signet, a best-in-slot pre-raid ring. That said, the difference is small, and choosing Scryer—especially for cheaper reputation—will not meaningfully hurt your performance.
