Affliction Warlock (PVP)
A damage-over-time focused spec that excels at sustained pressure, utility, and PvP control.
Gear & Stats
Affliction PvP gearing is all about staying alive long enough for rot pressure to win the game. Your damage is steady rather than bursty, so you prioritize stats that prevent resists, reduce incoming crit spikes, and let you keep applying DoTs through long fights. The core PvP package is Spell Penetration + Resilience + Stamina, backed by enough Spell Power to keep Unstable Affliction, Corruption, and Drain Life threatening.

Stat Priority
Spell Penetration (to 70 cap) > Spell Hit (to ~3%) > Resilience > Spell Power > Stamina > Intellect > Critical Strike
Spell Penetration
Spell Penetration is your first major breakpoint in PvP. Aim for **70 Spell Penetration** to offset common resistance buffs like Shadow Protection and Shadow Resistance Aura. Resisted Fears, Unstable Afflictions, or key DoT refreshes can completely swing momentum, so capping this early makes your control and pressure far more reliable.
Spell Hit
You want a small amount of Hit for PvP consistency. The practical target is **~3% Spell Hit**, which is **38 Hit Rating**. This reduces annoying misses on Fear/Death Coil/UA applications. The remaining 1% miss chance can’t be removed, so stacking beyond this is usually inefficient.
Resilience
Resilience is a massive survivability multiplier for Affliction, especially into Rogue/Melee pressure. At **493 Resilience Rating**, you reach the soft cap benefits: • 12.5% Critical Strike chance reduction • 25% Critical Strike damage reduction (hard cap) After that, additional Resilience still reduces crit chance further, but crit damage reduction stays capped.
Stamina & Sustain
Stamina is extremely valuable for Affliction because it buys time for rot to work. A larger health pool gives you more room to Life Tap safely, survive swap attempts, and keep DoTs rolling while you stabilize with Drain Life, Siphon Life, and Fel Armor–boosted healing.
Spell Power
Spell Power keeps your pressure real. Affliction wins by keeping Unstable Affliction and other DoTs punishing while maintaining strong Drain Life value. After you hit your Spell Pen and Resilience goals, Spell Power becomes the most important offensive stat.
General Gearing Notes
PvP gear with Resilience is generally the default, but mixing in a few PvE pieces for extra Spell Power can be viable if you’re undergeared—especially in slots where your PvP options are weak. Always keep key utility options available, such as a Master Spellstone for dispels and a PvP trinket for freedom. On-use Spell Power trinkets can also help convert CC windows into kill pressure.
