Aldor vs Scryer
When you first reach Shattrath City at level 60 or higher, you are given a choice between two factions: The Aldor and the Scryers. This decision affects which rewards you can purchase, which quest lines you can pursue, and which faction strongholds you can access in Shadowmoon Valley. While it is possible to switch later, it is best to avoid making a haphazard choice. For Warlocks, the difference between Aldor and Scryer is very small in terms of raid performance. In most cases, personal preference—such as location, profession trainers, or general convenience—will matter more than raw power.

Performance difference is minimal
The DPS difference between Aldor and Scryer for Warlocks is extremely small and will not meaningfully affect raid performance.
Enchant versus flexibility
Aldor offers a slightly stronger shoulder enchant, while Scryer provides items that help fine-tune hit rating early on.
Phase 5 rewards are not decisive
The Shattered Sun Pendant of Acumen changes its proc based on faction alignment, but it becomes available very late and is often replaced quickly.
Personal preference is valid
Things like Shattrath layout, profession access, and general convenience are perfectly reasonable reasons to choose one faction over the other.

Recommendation for Warlock PvE
We recommend choosing Aldor as a Warlock in TBC Classic. - Greater Inscription of Discipline is slightly stronger than Greater Inscription of the Orb, providing a small but real DPS gain. - While choosing Aldor means giving up access to Scryer's Bloodgem and Seer's Signet, these items are quickly outclassed and mainly offer early gearing flexibility. Ultimately, whichever faction you choose is the correct one—Warlocks perform extremely well regardless of this decision.
