Arms Warrior (PVP)
PvP-first spec with Mortal Strike utility
Aldor vs Scryer
When you first reach Shattrath City at level 60 or higher, you are given a choice between two factions: The Aldor and the Scryers. This decision affects which rewards you can purchase, which quest lines you can pursue, and which faction strongholds you can access in Shadowmoon Valley. While it is possible to switch later, it is best to avoid making a haphazard choice. For Arms Warriors in PvP, this decision is more impactful than it is in PvE and strongly favors one faction due to stat scaling and profession synergy.
Before you choose
Here are the only things you need to know before picking a side.
Critical Strike matters more in PvP
Arms PvP revolves around burst windows, Mortal Strike pressure, and capitalizing on short openings. Critical Strike directly amplifies this playstyle.
Blacksmithing is mandatory
Deep Thunder is a best-in-slot PvP weapon and should be crafted as early as possible. Anything that reduces the cost and friction of leveling Blacksmithing is a major advantage.
Gold efficiency matters early
PvP gearing already requires significant gold investment. Choosing a faction that saves gold early allows you to reach key breakpoints faster.
Switching is possible
You can change factions later, but doing so costs time and gold. Arms PvP players benefit the most from making the correct choice early.
Aldor vs Scryer
Side-by-side comparison of early highlights, pros, and cons.
Neither choice is permanent, but your early gearing experience can feel very different depending on which faction you choose
- Greater Inscription of Vengeance provides solid Attack Power and Critical Strike
- Works fine if you are already committed to Aldor for other reasons
- Provides less Critical Strike value than the Scryer option for PvP burst
- Offers no meaningful advantage toward gearing or professions for Arms PvP
- Greater Inscription of the Blade leans more heavily into Critical Strike, which directly improves PvP burst
- Cheaper reputation turn-ins early help save gold
- Exclusive Blacksmithing plans significantly reduce the cost of leveling Blacksmithing
- Strong synergy with crafting Deep Thunder as early as possible
- Provides little PvE-oriented value compared to Aldor
What matters for Arms Warrior PvP
Burst damage and crit scaling
Critical Strike is one of the most valuable stats for Arms PvP, amplifying pressure during Mortal Strike windows and helping secure kills. The Scryer shoulder enchant aligns better with this burst-focused stat profile.
Deep Thunder timing
Crafting Deep Thunder as early as possible is a priority for Arms PvP. Scryer-exclusive Blacksmithing plans and cheaper reputation turn-ins help reduce the gold barrier, allowing you to reach this power spike sooner.
Recommendation for Arms Warrior PvP
We recommend choosing Scryer as an Arms Warrior for PvP in TBC Classic. Greater Inscription of the Blade provides better Critical Strike scaling for PvP burst, and Scryer reputation rewards significantly reduce the cost of leveling Blacksmithing. Since Deep Thunder is a mandatory early PvP weapon, the ability to craft it sooner gives a real and immediate advantage. Aldor remains playable, but Scryer offers a clear edge for Arms PvP.
