Demonology Warlock (PVP)
A demon-focused spec that delivers consistent damage through powerful pets and strong survivability.
Aldor vs Scryer
When you first reach Shattrath City at level 60 or higher, you are given a choice between two factions: The Aldor and the Scryers. This decision affects which rewards you can purchase, which quest lines you can pursue, and which faction strongholds you can access in Shadowmoon Valley. While it is possible to switch later, it is best to avoid making a haphazard choice. For Warlocks in PvP, the most meaningful difference between Aldor and Scryer is the shoulder enchant. Aldor leans toward more Spell Power, while Scryer leans toward more Critical Strike.
Before you choose
Here are the only things you need to know before picking a side.
The shoulder enchant is the main difference
For Warlock PvP, most faction rewards do not meaningfully change performance. The shoulder enchant is the only difference you will consistently feel.
Spell Power beats Crit for Warlocks
Warlocks benefit more from consistent Spell Power than from volatile Critical Strike. More Spell Power improves overall pressure, sustained damage, and kill setups.
Most other rewards are preference-based
Things like Shattrath layout, vendors, and convenience are valid deciding factors once you understand the enchant difference.
Switching is possible
You can change factions later, but it costs time and gold. PvP-focused players benefit from choosing correctly early.
Aldor vs Scryer
Side-by-side comparison of early highlights, pros, and cons.
Neither choice is permanent, but your early gearing experience can feel very different depending on which faction you choose
- Greater Inscription of Discipline provides more Spell Power than the Scryer alternative
- Spell Power is more reliable than Critical Strike for PvP damage and pressure
- Fits every Warlock PvP playstyle without needing special conditions to be valuable
- Often slightly more expensive to rush due to higher demand for Aldor turn-in items
- Provides minimal PvP value beyond the shoulder enchant difference
- Greater Inscription of the Orb provides more Critical Strike than the Aldor alternative
- Scryer reputation turn-ins are often cheaper due to lower faction popularity
- Critical Strike is less valuable and less consistent than Spell Power for Warlock PvP
- Offers no meaningful PvP advantage outside of the shoulder enchant profile
Recommendation for Warlock PvP
We recommend choosing Aldor as a Warlock for PvP in TBC Classic. - Greater Inscription of Discipline provides more Spell Power than Greater Inscription of the Orb. - Spell Power is far more valuable than Critical Strike for consistent Warlock pressure and kill setups. Scryer remains playable, but Aldor is the best default choice for PvP-focused Warlocks.
