Demonology Warlock (PVP)
A demon-focused spec that delivers consistent damage through powerful pets and strong survivability.
Gear & Stats
PvP gearing for Demonology Warlocks in TBC focuses on survivability, consistency, and control. Unlike PvE, your goal is not to maximize raw DPS, but to prevent resists, reduce incoming burst, and maintain pressure long enough to win through attrition. Resilience, Spell Penetration, and Stamina form the backbone of SL/SL gearing, while Spell Power ensures your DoTs and Drain Life remain threatening throughout extended fights.

Stat Priority
Spell Penetration (to 70 cap) > Spell Hit (to 3%) > Resilience > Spell Power > Stamina > Intellect > Critical Strike
Spell Penetration
Spell Penetration is your single most important PvP stat until capped. You want **70 Spell Penetration** to fully offset common resistance buffs such as Shadow Protection, Shadow Resistance Aura, and Master Demonologist bonuses from opposing Warlocks. Any resisted Fear, Death Coil, or DoT application can immediately cost you momentum or the game.
Spell Hit
In PvP, you only need **3% Spell Hit** to counter the baseline miss chance against same-level players. This equates to **38 Spell Hit Rating**. Going beyond this provides no additional benefit, as a 1% miss chance cannot be removed.
Resilience
Resilience reduces both the chance for enemies to critically strike you and the damage those critical strikes deal. At **493 Resilience Rating**, you reach the soft cap: • 12.5% Critical Strike chance reduction • 25% Critical Strike damage reduction (hard cap) After this point, additional Resilience only reduces crit chance further, not crit damage.
Stamina & Survivability
Stamina scales extremely well for SL/SL Warlocks. With Soul Link, Demonic Embrace, and Fel Stamina, **1 Stamina provides over 12 HP to you and 4 HP to your pet**, significantly increasing effective health. A larger health pool also enables more aggressive Life Taps without risking lethal burst.
Spell Power
Spell Power remains critical for maintaining pressure. While survivability comes first, Spell Power directly increases: • DoT damage (Corruption, Siphon Life, Unstable Affliction) • Drain Life healing • Overall rot pressure on healers A balanced approach between Resilience and Spell Power is ideal.
General Gearing Notes
PvP gear with Resilience is generally preferred, but mixing in strong PvE items can be viable if you lack Gladiator gear for certain slots. Useful utility items such as Master Spellstone, PvP trinkets, and on-use Spell Power trinkets (e.g., Icon of the Silver Crescent) significantly enhance your toolkit. Always prioritize reliability over burst — resisted or missed spells are far more punishing in PvP than slightly lower damage.
